“Simple & Luxury”

We were commissioned to select the finishing materials for a high-end speculative housing project in the Daikanyama area of Tokyo.

At the construction stage—after the base specifications had already been determined—we developed a concept and selected materials within the given framework.

Speculative housing, like any architecture, becomes part of the urban landscape. By carefully interpreting the character of Daikanyama’s streetscape, we established the concept “Simple & Luxury.”

Initially, the client envisioned a design combining a wide variety of materials. Instead, we proposed a more refined approach—limiting the number of materials and colors so that the overall space would remain elegant and cohesive, even after furniture was placed.

The exterior is composed of three primary elements: gray, black, and wood.
The interior is likewise distilled into three essential tones: white, gray, and wood.

Although the commission was limited to material selection at the construction stage, the result is a residence that harmonizes with Daikanyama’s streetscape and lifestyle.
